Did you know...real estate is a high-risk profession?!?!
Real estate can be a high-risk profession, primarily due to security concerns. Agents frequently meet strangers at odd hours and in vacant homes, often without formal security training.
Tragically, another senseless murder of a real estate agent has come to light. It’s incidents like these that explain why agents ask for your name and contact information. It’s why they may request identification, take a call during your appointment for a check-in, or need proof that you’re a qualified buyer. If an agent refuses to show a property without this information, or has someone accompany them during showings or open houses, it’s for their safety.
Every day, real estate agents interact with strangers. We must take these precautions to protect ourselves from potential harm.
My heart goes out to the family of Yuk-Ying Anita Mui and the Ontario community she served. I hope justice is swiftly served and some closure can be found.
